Orange-red

Light display advertisements to shift product use bright colours so as to make a message stand out.

Neon colours were popular in the 1980's as a way to be recognised and seen easily. Neon motifs on t-shirts, dresses and swimsuits made a statement. The wish to be bright and be seen fitted in with the growing economic confidence of the times, and there was a big trend for clothing in bright neon colours:

  • hot pink
  • yellow
  • orange
  • green

Eventually all forms of neon colour faded and a more subdued palette returned.
